Black Panther - François Pompon - Big size
Reproduction patinated by hand. Mold made from an imprint of the original work on display at the musée d'Orsay.
Observer of animals at the Jardin des Plantes Zoo, François Pompon was able to transcribe their movements by eliminating the characteristic modeling of his master and employer, Auguste Rodin. The tapered profile of the panther lends itself particularly well to this simplification of forms as the choice of monochrome materials: black marble or bronze with brown patina.
