The flagship of the Limoges Museum of Fine Arts, the collection of Egyptian antiquities was brought together by Jean-André Périchon (1860-1929). Engineer, director of a sugar factory in Middle Egypt, Périchon-Bey through the action of the khedive - collected during the twenty-two years he spent on the banks of the Nile nearly 4,000 objects, half of which were donated to the museum in 1931.
This work is the first study of this extensive collection and allows you to discover a number of previously unpublished works, now in the possession of private owners. Specialists and researchers bring to light the specificities of a coherent collection, an open door to a still little-known region of Egypt. Beyond that, the work draws the portrait of a passionate and endearing man who accompanies an Egyptology still under construction.
