A meteoric figure of the French art scene of the 1950s, Bernard Réquichot (1929-1961) occupies a unique, but still too little-known, place in the history of abstraction in post-war France. Painter, draughtsman, collagist and even sculptor, the artist who died prematurely 63 years ago is magnificently represented in the collection of the Musée national d'art moderne.
This retrospective, the first in Paris in more than 50 years, aims to bring Bernard Réquichot's work out of the still too small circle of his admirers by revealing the scope and richness of his artistic legacy.
