A little-known figure in nineteenth-century art, Henry Cros (1840-1907), who is best associated with his contributions to the use of colour in sculpture, had an atypical career since his training. In 1884, he became the first sculptor to approach the material glass by inventing the technique he called "glass paste", and became interested in the field of decorative arts with a production inspired by themes from Antiquity. The artist is also an excellent draughtsman.
This unprecedented monographic catalogue, which brings together a remarkable set of his works on paper - the vast majority of which have never been published - sheds light on this rich graphic heritage by comparing it with the painted and sculpted works kept at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs and in a few other collections, just as unpublished.
