The monumental pools of this former submarine base offer an exceptional site to present the greatest masters of Dutch painting who sought to capture, each in their own way, the power of light.
This official catalog explores the greatest paintings by the masters of Dutch painting: Vermeer, Rembrandt, but also Van Gogh, worthy heir of this golden century, which ultimately takes us into the light of the South... these three illustrious names punctuate this journey which magnifies the strength of their art.
To deepen and complete this unique immersive experience, this work, composed of a general introduction written by art historian Valérie Mettais, proposes to compare around fifty original works with around ten in situ photos of the 'exposure. Around ten notices of works commented by the author enrich this journey to the heart of the works of the greatest masterpieces of Dutch painting.
