WRITTEN IN FRENCH
The Centre Pompidou gives carte blanche to the writer and journalist, Laurence Benaïm, who invests for the occasion, the modern art collection with designer dresses among the most emblematic of their generations. Far from a traditional educational route, the exhibition shows the obvious links that are woven between the history of art and the history of fashion in the 20th and 21st centuries and pays tribute to these bridges between disciplines and masters. . This delightful walk reveals many surprises: emblematic creations by Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, Gaultier and Dior, which interact with the works of Henri Matisse, Christian Schad and Ellsworth Kelly. Young artists are also there, with Charles de Vilmorin and Kevin Germanier, who resonate with Sonia Delaunay. But beyond these dialogues, the exhibition questions the notion of the body and its relationship to space. Laurence Benaïm also shows us how fashion fits into its time, recovers from crises and sometimes becomes a political and social demand. Beaux Arts Éditions, in what serves as a catalog, sheds light on this journey and gives voice to experts and creators through essays and unpublished interviews.
