From the castle built in the 17th century, only a few ruins remained after the Revolution and then the Great War. At the end of the war, Anne Morgan, philanthropist and daughter of a wealthy American banker, bought these ruins, restored the monumental gate and the two side pavilions, and continued her many charitable activities during the war by helping the people of Picardy. Anne Morgan created a museum of Franco-American friendship there, which opened in 1924 and was donated to the State in 1929. As new information becomes available buildings, the collections are expanding. A first renovation phase took place in 1989, then a second one started in 2006, which saw the construction of a new building, which was inaugurated in 2017. Today, the museum is organized around three main moments of Franco-American friendship: ideals, challenges and artistic exchanges.
