ARTIST AND CURATOR

Sophie Calle has been the subject of numerous exhibitions around the world since the late 70s. Alternately described as a conceptual artist, photographer, video artist and even detective, she has developed an instantly recognizable practice, combining text and photography to nourish a narrative all her own. Her works form a vast system of echoes and internal references, connected to each other like chapters in a global oeuvre in which Sophie Calle sometimes blurs the boundaries between the intimate and the public, reality and fiction, art and life. Her work meticulously orchestrates an underlying reality - her own or that of others - while leaving room for chance.
