Inaugurated during the Universal Exhibition of 1889, it was the tallest existing building at the time. The tower had to be dismantled, but Gustave Eiffel saved it by making it a lightning rod. It also served as a radio antenna during the First World War, and later as a general public radio station. Today, the skyscrapers have overtaken it, but it is part of history and continues to fascinate young and old.
