This "Encyclope" deals, in a complete and widely illustrated way, with slavery. It is approached from both a chronological and thematic point of view. We travel through history, during antiquity in Mesopotamia, Greece and Rome, then in the Middle Ages in Europe, with the Vikings, in the Slavic countries, but also in Asia. Then we focus on the discovery of the New World, the establishment of the triangular trade and the economy of plantations that have led to the deportation and enslavement of several million people from the African continent. Revolts and revolutions resulted in the official abolition of slavery during the 19th century. But today, slavery persists in other forms, we speak of modern slavery.
