From the end of the 1860s onwards, the links between Impressionist painters and decoration were fruitful and central. Monet, but also Caillebotte, Cassatt, Cézanne, Degas, Manet, Morisot, Pissarro, Renoir and Félix and Marie Bracquemond created wall decorations, fans, ceramics and plates.

Concerned about the place of beauty in everyday life, the Impressionist artists made decor a field of experimentation, venturing onto various media and exploring all their possibilities.

Installed at the Orangerie, the Water Lilies cycle, which Monet called his "Grandes Décorations", crowns more than sixty years of forays into this field. Going back to the sources of this masterpiece, this book invites us to discover this rich and fascinating part of Impressionism.
