True pioneers of modern decoration, Bonnard, Vuillard, Maurice Denis, Sérusier, Ranson, defended an art directly related to life, making it possible to introduce Beauty into everyday life. Since the formation of the group at the end of the 1880s, the question of the decorative has been a fundamental principle of the unity of creation. They then advocated an original, joyful and rhythmic expression, in reaction to the aesthetics of the pastiche that was in vogue at the time.
