Impression, Sunrise, the canvas which gave its name to Impressionism and which is the flagship of the collections of the Marmottan Monet Museum, is one of the most famous paintings in the world. However, this work has not been the subject of in-depth study to date. As part of the 80th anniversary of the opening of the Marmottan museum to the public and on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the first exhibition of Impression, Sunrise, the Marmottan Monet museum has chosen to organize the first exhibition ever dedicated to the founding work of impressionism.
