Conceived by Constantin Brancusi as a total environment and a work in itself, his studio provides a conceptual matrix for this retrospective that unfolds far beyond its walls.
Highlighting the multifaceted aspects of the artist's work, this catalogue has been imagined as a playful way to enter his world through a hundred keywords, thus abolishing any form of hierarchy between them, ranging from the names of his models and friends to his sources of inspiration or materials and concepts. The key words of his work: reproduction, modularity, architectural integration, moving pieces, light, music...
Richly illustrated with archival documents (photographs, letters, etc.), drawings and reproductions of his sculptures, this Brancusi "dictionary" is punctuated by quotations from the artist and enriched with the most up-to-date knowledge thanks to the contributions of 30 internationally recognized specialists.
