This catalogue has been published to mark the exhibition "The Navy and the Painters: Four Centuries of Art and Power" at the National Maritime Museum from 13 May to 8 August 2026.

A dialogue between T. Westermann and P.-J. Redouté, famous for his roses commissioned by Joséphine. The former creates an engraving on black glass before digitising and enlarging it, thereby revealing his creative process. His works echo the botanical precision of the painter, whose engraved plates engage in a dialogue with those of his Flemish peers.
