Of the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, we know the Gothic architecture and the intervention of Viollet-le-Duc, but much less the painted paintings that have adorned it over the centuries. This book explains the stages of the constitution of this decor, from the collection of the "grands mays" inaugurated in 1630 to the 19th and 20th centuries. Through the history of each of the painted works present in the building on the eve of the fire of 2019 and their restoration in 2022-2023, the cathedral also appears, from the 17th century to the present day, as a showcase of art and devotional objects of exceptional quality.
