WRITTEN IN FRENCH

Haiku is a short poem, born in Japan at the end of the 17th century. In the West, it is mainly written on three lines according to the short / long / short rhythm: 5 / 7 / 5 syllables in its classic form.

Haiku includes a kigo (seasonal word) which links it to reality. A kireji (caesura), sometimes represented by a dash or ~, marks a silence during reading, emphasizing the tension between a line and the rest of the poem. It presents two juxtaposed ideas (images).

It is par excellence the capture of the present moment in its singular and ephemeral aspects, in this world where permanence and impermanence coexist. It is a painting of the "here and now", of the ordinary captured with extreme simplicity in order to restore all the poetry of the emotion offered to the senses.
Haiku promotes social ties, listening and dialogue. It conveys a peaceful and benevolent spirit.
