This book proposes, via in-depth articles that are both demanding and accessible to a wide audience, a state of scientific research on different themes such as the manufacture of these films, the place and the specificity of these films among the different approaches of ethnographic cinema of the time, the vodùn culture in Benin, the context of French colonization, the dissemination of the mission after 1930, etc. The eyes of the contemporary artists present in the exhibition, whose works evoke, by reactivating them, these collections and this mission, will also be convened in the book.
