Hand patinated reproduction. Mould made from a print of the original work exhibited at the Beaux Arts de Lyon.
In the 15th and 16th centuries, numerous bronze replicas of small and medium dimensions were executed on the theme of the "Boy with Thorn". This is a variant of the one preserved in Rome, in the Capitoline Museum and whose Louvre museum has a bronze casting, executed in Rome in 1540.
The Boy with Thorn, usually sitting on either a tree trunk or a rock, is here on a rectangular base, like a stone block.
The very inclined bust brings out all the body's muscles, the gesture is very applied, the curly hair forms a kind of roll on the neck. Although the right foot is usually placed flat on the ground, it rests here on the point.
