				The Queen's Bedroom
Château of Fontainebleau
This room was the bedroom of all the female sovereigns from the end of the 16th century up to the 17th century, and each left her mark on it. The monogram of Anne of Austria can be seen on the central section of the ceiling (1644), that of Marie Leszczynska on the alcove ceiling (1746-1747), there are trompe l'œil decorated lintels painted by Sauvage and a bed designed at the request of Marie-Antoinette (1787), who, however, never slept in it.
The wall hangings of this bedroom, in brocade lampas weave and silk chenille, were woven and embroidered, following the original designs, by leading silk-makers in Paris and Lyon, between 1968 and 1986.
