The national factories of Gobelins, Beauvais and La Savonnerie are, since their foundation in the seventeenth century, places of creation that never cease to engage in a fruitful dialogue, nourished by the orders of the state, with the artists of their time.

This openness to innovation also characterizes the national furniture whose workshop of research and creation (arc), created at the initiative of André Malraux in 1964, contributes to introduce the design in the decor of the republic. we will discover here a choice of pieces that reflects the vitality of the creation of the last ten years.

Their variety testifies to the openness of the choices made by the two commissions for the acquisition of models (design and textile) under the presidency of the delegate for plastic arts. It also illustrates the inexhaustible potential of renewal which characterizes the art of weaving as well as the freedom left to the research of the creators within the framework of a policy of public order intended to renew the decorations of the state.
