The Summer Olympic games that will take place in Paris in 2024 are the opportunity, for Monnaie de Paris to celebrate this major international competition through a series celebrating Sport, its values and the athletes. Olympism and Paralympism will be highlighted on those products, struck in France in our art workshops.

In 2023, we are developing a collection of medallions representing the 26 letters of the Alphabet illustrated by 26 Olympic and Paralympic sports.

The origins of boxing are ancient. At the end of the 7th century BC, boxing was added to the events contested at the ancient Olympic Games. Fighters wrapped their fists and forearms in thin leather strips to protect themselves. Women entered the Olympic competition in 2012!
