The Summer Olympic games that will take place in Paris in 2024 are the opportunity, for Monnaie de Paris to celebrate this major international competition through a series celebrating Sport, its values and the athletes. Olympism and Paralympism will be highlighted on those products, struck in France in our art workshops.

In 2023, we are developing a collection of medallions representing the 26 letters of the Alphabet illustrated by 26 Olympic and Paralympic sports.

Water polo is an aquatic sport that was developed in the United States in the 19th century, and codified in a faster and less violent form in the United Kingdom at the same time. The European formula eventually took hold and is now played universally. Water polo is one of the oldest team sports in the Olympic Games, entering the programme in 1900.
