Constantin Brancusi (1876-1957) aroused curiosity and interest during his lifetime. He appears in the art world as a singular character whose work impresses as much by the purity and modernity of the forms as by a certain archaism.

Author of several books on Brancusi, Doïna Lemny proposes to follow the artist's career by examining the key moments of his creation, his working method and the materials he has privileged. It evokes the artistic milieu in which Brancusi evolved, his relations and friendships with Duchamp and Modigliani. Satie, Pound or James Joyce, as well as his links with his compatriots, thus creating a subtle and renewed portrait of the artist. Abundantly illustrated, this volume sheds particular light on the practice of photography to which Brancusi devoted himself with passion, succeeding in imposing his aesthetic vision and his gaze on his own sculptures.
