In 1941, Capitaine-Paul-Lemerle left Marseille in the direction of Fort-de-France with many personalities such as Claude Lévi-Strauss or André Breton, all fleeing the Vichy regime. Among the passengers, the future screenwriter Rémy Assayas, known as Jacques Rémy, and photographer Germaine Krull immortalized their texts and clichés a journey leading them to Rio.
