Children's Books

This French-language book takes its title from the nature spirits, called the Kachina, that fill the creation stories of the Hopi Native American people.

From Alaska to the Rocky Mountains, from the grassy plains in the continent's centre to the arid deserts of Arizona, these peoples' way of life depends on what the Earth makes available. Every object presented here speaks through its form, materials and colours of the search for balance and harmony between nature, spirits and human beings.

Kachina invites you to journey in quest of the sacred breath that shrouds the ice and boulders, leaves and twigs, streams and lakes of these vast lands.
