Closed in 2021, the Grand Palais will gradually reopen its doors from 2024, following the first restoration project covering all of its spaces, i.e. 72,000 m2. This special issue details the challenges of this extraordinary project, from the monumental nave to the mosaic and sculpture decorations, and tells the story of this emblematic moment of the Belle Époque, built in just 3 years for the 1900 Universal Exhibition. It also looks back at the purpose of this palace, which has hosted prestigious trade fairs and exhibitions since its creation, as well as the biggest events, from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games to the Chanel fashion shows.
