A mythical country, famous for the beauty of its landscapes between the sea, the mountains and the desert, and its gentle way of life, the Sultanate of Oman is also rich in a thousand-year-old history. Its territory, open to the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, and linked to the major routes of the Arabian Peninsula, has always been conducive to trade. Throughout its history, Oman has exported copper, minerals, shells, aromatics, incense - the precious resin of which the best quality is extracted from the Boswellia sacra incense tree that grows in the Dhofar region - thoroughbreds and, nowadays, gas and oil. These contacts with Mesopotamia, India, Iran, Egypt, the Mediterranean, the east coast of Africa and Asia have always favoured the development of new cultures, the diffusion of know-how and knowledge.
