Michael Jackson's influence goes far beyond music. A true icon of his generation with a fascinating personality, the King of Pop has inspired many artists, whether they are draftsmen, painters, sculptors or even plastic artists. The exhibition, and the accompanying catalogue, decipher the star's impact on contemporary art, but also highlight how Michael Jackson's eclectic artistic tastes were, in the image of his philosophy, totally open, non-ideological and non-discriminatory. In this regard, the challenges of its transversal culture within the African-American community will be highlighted.
In total, 150 works by more than 40 artists - such as Andy Warhol, David La Chapelle, Isa Genzken, or the eccentric Grayson Perry, a key figure in English pop art, to name but a few - will be reproduced.
Exhibition at the Galeries nationales du Grand Palais from November 23rd 2018 to February 17th 2019.
