WRITTEN IN FRENCH
This book is an invitation to discover emblematic pieces and other more original pieces coming from the 700 donors who participated in the creation and development of the collections of the Château de Malmaison museum.
Through a varied selection, the reader is invited to look behind the object, its material history and to relive the adventures it went through to arrive at the museum.
It is also a tribute to the donors of Malmaison, each of whom is the subject of a portrait, between 1903, the year of the donation of the castle to the State by Daniel Iffla-Osiris, and 1979, the year of the donation of numerous souvenirs family consented to by Prince Napoleon and his relatives. The opportunity to symbolically meet people whose names we can usually only read on the labels. It is also an opportunity to recall the collective and participatory nature of the museum and the collections that we discover there today. The opportunity finally to realize to what extent the memory of Napoleon and Joséphine at Malmaison is unifying well beyond our borders and across the centuries.
