Published on the occasion of the exhibition Picasso-Giacometti at Musée national Picasso-Paris (4 October 2016 - 5 February 2017).

When [Giacometti] makes those sculptures like people crossing the street, going from one house to another, you can't help saying that these are people who are walking in the street and that you're at a certain distance from them. Sculpture with Giacometti is the residual part, what remains when the mind has forgotten all the details. [...]. It's a really new spirit in sculpture.

Recently I was at an exhibition by Picasso that I liked very much. There are six or seven large seated figures, two or three travelling acrobats, and portraits of women.
