WRITTEN IN FRENCH
This first monograph devoted to Céline Laguarde reveals a production of unsuspected quality, variety and longevity. The result of original research, it reconstructs the life, work and career of this virtuoso of pigment processes.
The book offers a new perspective on pictorialism while placing Laguarde's case in the still little-known context, and analyzed here for the first time, of female photography in France at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. It thus invites a true rediscovery: that of a female photographer who achieved a degree of recognition that was unique and unprecedented in France since the invention of the medium, but also, and above all, that of an artist already considered, during her lifetime, among the major photographers of her time.
