The first work devoted to Jean Nocret since 1886, this book, resulting from a real investigation in archives and public and private collections, gives substance to an unexpected and singular painter, who passed through Lorraine, Rome, Lisbon and Paris. Often spectacular, his works revive a forgotten patronage, that of Philippe d'Orléans known as "Monsieur", the only brother of the Sun King.
