This porcelain plate exclusively designed by Vista Alegre for the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza is inspired by the work of the flemish artist Michael Sweerts (1618 - 1664), Boy in a Turban holding a Nosegay ca. 1658 - 1661.

The image of this boy is conveyed with a great sense of volume through the modelling and the combination of colours chosen for the clothes. The large area of blue cloak, painted in a highly linear manner with regard to the application of the pigment and the construction of the folds, is contrasted with the pale yellow of the turban, the immaculate white of the shirt and the red of some of the flowers and the sash. The brilliant depiction of the turban and the skilled pose and modelling of the figure make this one of Sweerts' most successful paintings.
