In the 18th century, British arts flourished in a diversity of styles and with unparalleled creative impulses. Painters evolve narrative figuration to take it to the sublime and open the way to a new conception of art as a support for the imagination. In parallel with this revolution in painting, the modern English novel was born. The writers of the time proposed a new literature, prose narratives of the life of a fictional being who evolved in a universe identical to that of the readers.
Painting and literature are then the mirror of these upheavals, and will serve as the main theme of the exhibition's journal.
