				Claude Monet (1840 - 1926)
This poster is the reproduction of Poppies, painted in 1873 by Claude Monet (1840-1926) and presented at the Musée d'Orsay.
Monet produced this oil painting on canvas when he lived in Argentreuil. Monet, painter of vast liquid surfaces, also likes, maybe for similar reasons, great stretches of grass, undulating in the summer breeze.
The two walkers and their children walking through the long grass of the hilly countryside play no part in the painting; the only thing the artist is interested in are the vivid tones of the flowers, standing out brightly on the blond green of the countryside stretching as a sea until the horizon, the unique stable line in the composition, along with the outlines of the trees.
