An "application for a priority preliminary ruling on the issue of constitutionality" is the right for any person who is involved in legal proceedings before a court to argue that a statutory provision infringes rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution.

The application for a priority preliminary ruling on the issue of constitutionality was introduced under the constitutional reform of 23 July 2008.

The Constitutional Council is the guardian of fundamental freedoms. It assesses the conformity of laws with the Constitution of the Fifth Republic and, more broadly, with the constitutionality block. The products presented are a nod to these great concepts that serve our daily lives.

The designer Pascale Brun d'Arre was given carte blanche to design the Constitutional Council's collection. This artist of derivative products works with the greatest cultural institutions and clearly enjoys it. She imagines, adapts and plays with words, always with audacity and subtlety.
