				WRITTEN IN FRENCH
This catalogue was published to coincide with the exhibition 'José Antônio da Silva (1909-1996): pintar o Brasil' at the Musée de Grenoble from 11 April to 6 July 2025.
A tribute to J.A. da Silva through some forty paintings from private and institutional Brazilian collections. Painter, orator, writer and singer, his prolific creative energy earned him the nickname of the Brazilian Van Gogh. Behind his joyful, folkloric paintings, he denounces the harsh reality of the Brazilian peasantry, to which he is deeply attached.
