With more than five thousand works, frescoes or paintings, Luca Giordano's (1634-1705) production is immense. A virtuoso of the brush, his ability to adapt earned him prestigious commissions, both in Naples and Florence, but also in Spain, where he spent ten years at the court of Charles II.

His work is abundantly present in French museums - whether in the Louvre, Ajaccio, Amiens, Brest, Chambéry, or Rouen - a country where he had a profound influence on 18th century painters. This monograph, the first work in French on the artist, portrays an exceptional man, indifferent to codes and rules, gifted for business, and essential to understanding the artistic landscape of the 17th century in Europe.
