Household Lar God
Hand patinated reproduction. Mold made from a print of the original work.
Even though this figurine no longer has the patera that the god used to hold in his right hand and the horn of plenty supported by his left arm, it is perhaps the most attractive of a fairly large series.
The distinctive features of this figurine are the noble expression of the face, the lively movement of the body and the elegance of the draped clothing.
Before being acquired by the Museum in 1885, it belonged to a private collection in Lyon, but its precise origin is unknown.
