For two centuries, the collections of the Musée du Louvre have been constantly enriched by generous donors.
Since the early 1980s, Héléna and Guy Motais de Narbonne, Parisian amateurs familiar with the museum, have passionately built up a remarkably coherent collection of French and Italian paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries.
This book reveals it to the public through forty-four paintings, most of them on religious or mythological subjects, by artists such as Sébastien Bourdon, Charles Le Brun, Jean Tassel, François Boucher, Pierre Subleyras and Joseph-Marie Vien, as well as Donato Creti, Luca Giordano, Le Guerchin, Mattia Preti, Claude Déruet and Domenico Maria Viani, who now enrich the Louvre's collection of early paintings.
