Art Nouveau was an artistic period between 1890 and 1914 that arose largely in response to blurry impressionism. The foundation was laid in England with the Arts & Crafts movement and swept across Western Europe, culminating in the 1900 World Fair in Paris. In Germany it is known as Jugendstil, in Austria as Sezessionstil and in Spain as Modernismo.
The main sources of inspiration for this art movement were nature, an optimistic world view and faith in the future.
