The Classic of Tea or Tea Classic (t=茶經 s=茶经) is the very first monograph on tea in the world, written by Chinese writer Lu Yu between 760 CE and 780 CE during the Tang Dynasty.
The preparation of tea according to Lu Yu was very different from the current fashion of brewing leaves. It is described with a number of very poetic images that refer to animals or plants and show Lu Yu's great sense of observation of the plant world. This text had a considerable influence, not only in China itself, but also in Japan and Korea.
