Art Deco was a popular art movement from 1919 to 1939 that had a significant influence on decorative and applied art. This movement was somewhat eclectic in that it featured a combination of different styles and art movements from the early twentieth century.

Clear, rich colours, geometric shapes, lavish decorations, clean lines and patterns often inspired by the ancient Egyptians and Aztecs.

Famous designers from this period included George Jensen, Josef Hoffman, George Fouquet and the Wiener Werkstätte (Vienna Workshop).
