In 2024, the Fondation de l'Hermitage celebrates its 40th anniversary and presents an exceptional exhibition in partnership with the Museum Langmatt in Baden. Made up of treasures - mostly Impressionist - collected mainly between 1908 and 1919 by the collector couple Sidney and Jenny Brown, this sumptuous collection, usually shown at the Villa Langmatt, will stop off at the Hermitage for its first off-site presentation. Forty years after its inaugural exhibition Impressionism in the Romandie Collections, the Fondation thus has the privilege of unveiling one of the most prestigious Impressionist collections in German-speaking Switzerland. This presentation-event will also celebrate another anniversary, the 150th anniversary of Impressionism, which crystallized in 1874 around the first collective exhibition of a group of young independent artists, followers of a "new painting".
The exhibition of the Langmatt collection at the Fondation de l'Hermitage will bring together 67 of the most remarkable works from this ensemble: a unique opportunity to admire these treasures outside their usual setting.
