The Centre Pompidou is dedicating a monograph to Suzanne Valadon (1865-1938), an emblematic and daring artist, one of the most important of her generation. On the fringes of the dominant trends of her time - cubism and abstract art were in embryo while she ardently defended the need to paint reality - she placed the nude, both female and male, at the center of her work, representing bodies without artifice or voyeurism.
Through its different themes, the album offers a beautifully illlustrated summary of the exhibition.
Exhibition at the Centre Pompidou, Paris from 15 January to 26 May 2025.
