This sweater was inspired by Claude Monet's fascinating water lilies.
For almost thirty years, Monet was interested in depicting the same species of plant: the water lily. The first canvases, painted from 1897 onwards, were small, almost square. More than two hundred and fifty canvases were painted on this theme: nature in its primordial forms: water, light, vegetation, the stains of flowers. Wishing to take part in the Victory of 1918, Monet offered to donate two large panels to the French government and asked Clémenceau to act as intermediary: in the end, eight vast compositions were installed, after the painter's death but in accordance with his instructions, in two large oval rooms in the Orangerie.
