Caumont-Centre d'Art à Aix-en-Provence proposes to explore the work of the French-American artist Niki de Saint Phalle (1930-2002) from the point of view of the bestiary: snakes, spiders, birds, dragons and other monsters populate his artistic universe, from his first creations to his last period in the United States. The special issue dedicated to this exhibition recounts the career of this artist, who through his appropriation of these creatures, sometimes evil, sometimes allied, mixes symbolism and founding myths, autobiographical narrative and heritage of surrealism.
