FRENCH VERSION
The LaM, a museum of modern art, contemporary art and art brut of Lille Métropole, in Villeneuve d'Ascq, pays tribute to Vassily Kandinsky (1866-1944), one of the fathers of abstraction, through an exhibition that highlights the role of images in the development of his art.
The special edition published on the occasion of this retrospective, co-organized with the Centre Pompidou - Paris as part of its program outside the walls Constellations, retraces the entire journey of the painter, in the light of this unprecedented approach. From the first figurative sources of his Russian youth, to the adventure of the Blue Horseman and the Bauhaus, to the biomorphism of his last years, this issue explores how travel photographs, scientific or press illustrations have inspired his work but also nourished his artistic reflection and accompanied his quest towards abstraction.
