Alexandre-Jean Dubois-Drahonet (1790-1834), a rediscovered talent: rarely has a title reflected its subject so well.
Because who today knows this painter, although appreciated in his time, and whose workshop was located in Versailles? Portraitist, military painter, witness to the Restoration: this is a favorable background for the oblivion of Dubois-Drahonet, at least for its dormancy.
The exhibition dedicated to him by the Lambinet museum and the catalog published on this occasion aim to correct this injustice.
